With hindsight we can see how those academic expositions by linguistic philosophers, were in fact laying the ground for the indexibility of the world. When they failed to explain the meaning of love, they took their bookish shovels and tried to bury connotation with the soil of denotation, as if life were some motorway neatly arranged with warning signs marking branches in the path,
"this is a tree"
