Parrallel with the demise of film is the end of chemical photographic prints. The ink jet print now offers superior output with regard to responsibility, there is no water course pollution.

The chemical makeup of these earlier artworks was their major drawback, their inherent instability was from from an archival point of view; virtually uncontrollable. By contrast the ink jet print can if desired be printed on the highest quality rag paper using archival pigment inks, their half life, should with time approach that of water colour inks,

Now ithout the glossy sheen and acidic smell, the modern photographic print increasingly resembles a water colour or Japanese wood block print in texture, two media which also share with photography many intimate and social aspects in their art.
