The writng stick, in it's many forms is still the fastest and most ubiquitous recording instrument. Yet most formal work presentations show little hint of an analogue source, rendered instead in clear type with clean borders and a machine finish. Presented as a series of digital snapshots with written captions, personal authority is demanded by the impersonal graphics and associated effects, the art of public speaking reduced to a sound byte.
