Trust me, I do not own a dog.

And trust is at the heart of digital picture making.

While "faking it" has always been a part of photography, earlier deceptions required enormous technical facility; if one wished to go beyond the contextual crop. The photograph always had a certain authentic grace, in the first instance a de facto document, rarely would we abjure that it was not the whole truth. In contrast a digital document is a contentious item in respect of evidence.
